Sanding and Refinishing
Sanding and refinishing is an art. Not many people can grasp it and even more, cannot handle its sheer physical demands. I fell in love with it immediately. I will sand just about any wooden floor or surface including stairs, decks, and porches. Some floors require a very serious grit to remove wax or paint and some have thousands of nails sticking up which all have to be set down before my machines start running. Some floors have numerous cracks and open seams which I trowel fill beforehand.
Buff and coat
Some floors do not need to be sanded. They might just need a buffing and a new coat of finish. Most companies won’t tell you this because they won’t make as much money off of you. I’ll be the first to tell you if I think you would be better off saving the cost of sanding and just going this route.
Staining
Staining your old or new floors is a great idea for a major change without a major renovation. A stained border is a cheaper alternative to installing an actual border of a different species of wood. Maybe you have painted or purchased new furniture and the colors just aren’t playing well. Or maybe you simply desire a new color. Sometimes stains can be used on stubborn animal urine damage or to match a new floor with an existing one. Also, you might have a floor with a color stain now but desire a natural wood instead. Whatever the case may be the possibilities with different stains can be endless.
Installation and Repair
Installation is a well-choreographed song and dance. Everything has to be timed and placed just right and each next step has to be anticipated. I will install any type of wood flooring for my clients. Solid, laminate, and engineered. I install thin planks to very wide planks. Each floor is unique and requires a different type of prep and setup. I can install unfinished wood, sand and finish it to your taste and liking or you might prefer I install prefinished material. It all depends on what you like and the look and feel you’re aiming for.
Repairs
Wood flooring can present many different types of damage repairing situations. From fire and floods, accidental droppings, moving furniture, Christmas trees, animal urine, and so much more. Every repair is unique except for one thing they all have in common; there is no promise that every situation can be repaired. There are three possible scenarios with damage and repairs. Sometimes the repair is fully corrected and its history is undetectable. Sometimes the repair might still be slightly noticeable. Sometimes the only option is replacing the entire floor.
Distressing
Distressing can be an exciting and highly creative way to design a one-of-a-kind look for your home or business. The possibilities are, in no doubt, endless. Maybe you remember the old country floors in your grandparent's home or the floors in your father’s barn. Maybe you like a rustic and vintage look. Maybe you are looking, or have ideas, for a truly unique floor. Distressing could be just what you’ve been looking for.
